TURN 03 - THE TRIAL OF THE SUTCLYFFE TWINS

The Sutclyffe Twins are charged with Smuggling

For the Prosecution Daniel O'Connell

"I have it on very good authority, that those dreadful women have being
smuggling women's undergarments that are not fit for wearing, just looking
at. Imagine such a heinous idea!"

For the Defence: Ichabod Crane

"I shall prove that although the twins are responsible for pretty much
everything, including several beheadings, smuggling women's undergarments is
just too heinous (to paraphrase my learned friend) a crime for them to
contemplate".

Jury Value:  11
Winner to receive: $155

The Prosecution begins...

Your honour, lady and gentlemen of the court, I will not take much of your
time as it is clear that these women are guilty. I can prove this by calling
someone who they tried to sell exhibit A to on Saturday last.

Call Sweet Pansy Decker as witness.

Young lady tell the court and in presence of God, that the accused did
indeed try and sell you these filthy articles. Bear in mind that you are
under oath and your soul will pay if you go against it.

Sweet Pansy Decker: "The accused did try to sell me these garments, but they
were clean when they were trying to sell me them!" [D6=5 JV+1]

See see, a witness to this heinous crime. how can any god-fearing juror not
throw the book at them.  Prosecution rests, may god have mercy on your soul
my learned friend Crane for defending these women. [JV=12]

The Defence takes up the case...

Call Nice Tall Annie

Annie is a Quick Sketch Artist [JV-3] who happened to be looking over the
fence and saw the Twins trying on the undergarments proving that they *are*
fit to wear. The elder twin jumped in the river and promptly sank (Doesn't
Float [JV-3]), surely this is proof enough that the Twins could not have
done this. Show Annie's drawings as evidence.

Nice Tall Annie: "I did sketch them trying on these garments and confirm
that these are my drawings and that the elder twin did indeed sink when she
jumped into the river!" [D6=3 JV-2 ]

They were with Little Nellie (who is charged with public lewdness in this
very court), Bad Company it has to be admitted [JV-2], on the day in
question.

The Defence rests. [JV=2]

Prosecutor's Final Argument...

"For closing, it is well known that these women are Gifted Artists [JV+3],
with this in mind, take it with you when you go to make your decision on
this case that is likely that the accused were not only smuggling but
responsible for creating the filth that has plagued our town."

[JV=5] [2D6=10] [Final JV=5+10=15=Guilty]

The Jury reaches a unanimous verdict of GUILTY. The Sutclyffe twins are
taken to their cells amongst great jeering and booing from the gathered
throng! [Daniel O'Connel wins the $155 court fees].
